Whynter Dehumidifier Error Codes and Troubleshooting




Error Codes and Protection Code:

AS – Humidity Sensor Error: Unplug the unit and plug it back in.

ES – Temperature Sensor Error: Unplug the unit and plug it back in.

P2 – Drain Bucket Full: Empty the drain bucket. Please make sure float moves freely and is not stuck.




EC – Unit Malfunction: Please make sure whether the environment temperature is between 41°F (5°C), and 96°F (35°C).

E3 – Unit Malfunction: Unplug the unit and plug it back in.

Eb – Drain Bucket Error: Drain bucket is removed or not positioned correctly. Make sure that the drain bucket is properly installed and the in right position.

30%RH: Humidity Sensor has an open circuit or humidity is less than 30%

90%RH: Humidity Sensor has short circuit or humidity is higher than 90%

Lo: Temperature is lower than 32°F or temperature sensor has an open circuit




Hi: Temperature is higher than 122°F or temperature sensor has a short circuit

Troubleshooting

Problem: The dehumidifier does not operate.

Possible Causes:

  1. Power failure /outage.
  2. The automatic switch, line fuse, or breaker has been tripped.
  3. The power supply voltage is too low.
  4. The power cord is damaged.
  5. The dryness level you selected has been reached.
  6. Drain bucket is full or not positioned properly.

Solutions:

  1. Restore the power supply
  2. Flip the switch / change the fuse / turn the breaker back on. Also note that you may have too many appliances drawing power on one circuit, you may need to move the other appliances to another circuit.
  3. Move the appliance onto another circuit with the correct voltage.
  4. Call for service. Only authorized personnel should replace damaged power cord or power plug.
  5. If you want to remove more moisture, set the unit on Continuous operation.
  6. Empty drain bucket and insert the bucket to the appliance properly.

Problem: The dehumidifier runs too much.

Possible Causes:

  1. Windows or doors near dehumidifier are open.
  2. Area to be dehumidified is too large.
  3. Air movement through dehumidifier is blocked. Air grille may be dirty.
  4. Continuous mode is on

Solutions:

  1. Close all windows or doors.
  2. You may need an additional dehumidifier for area.
  3. Clean the air filter.
  4. The appliance must be placed in a space that does not restrict air flowing into the rear coil or out of the front grille.
  5. Set the RH% level and the appliance will stop when the set RH% is reached.

Problem: The dehumidifier runs but the room is not dry enough.

Possible Causes:

  1. Humidity setting (RH%) is too high.
  2. The dehumidifier does not have sufficient clearance to operate.
  3. Room temperature is too low.
  4. Windows or doors are opened .

Solutions:



  1. Set the humidity level to a lower RH%. We recommend setting the RH% to at least 10% lower than the current RH%.
  2. Ensure there is at least 10” of clearance for proper ventilation.
  3. The appliance will not operate satisfactorily if the room temperature is below 41°F
  4. Close windows or doors.

Problem: Frost appears on the coils above the bucket.

Possible Causes:

  1. The dehumidifier has been turned on recently.
  2. Room temperature is too low

Solutions:

  1. This is normal due to refrigerant rushing through the coil. Frost will usually disappear within 60 minutes. This happens when the appliance is operating in low temperatures less than 53°F .
  2. The appliance will not operate satisfactorily if the room temperature is below 41°F

Problem: The dehumidifier makes loud noise.

Possible Causes: Appliance is not leveled.

Solutions: Shut off the appliance and let it sit on level surface for at least 6 hours.

Problem: The dehumidifier leaks.

Possible Causes:

  1. Continuous/gravity drain hose is loose.
  2. Cracked drain bucket.

Solutions:

  1. Secure the drain hose.
  2. Contact Whynter Service Department.

Problem: Water on floor.

Possible Causes:

  1. Drain bucket is not installed properly.
  2. Drain hose connection may be loose or not installed properly.

Solutions:

  1. Install the drain bucket securely.
  2. Make sure that the drain hose is securely installed in the drain outlet.
  3. For Drain Bucket method, make sure that the continuous drain assembly is not installed and rubber drain cover is in place.
  4. For Continuous/Gravity Drain method and Water Pump method, make sure the hose is securely fastened to prevent leakage. Direct the drain hose toward a drain or other suitable drainage outlet.
