York International was once the largest independent manufacturer of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration machinery in the world. Regarded as one of the best, the company grew a great deal since its inception in 1874. Back then the company was regarded as the heart of York, Pennsylvania – and that is where it got its name. However, in early 2005 we started to see a few changes in the setting when Johnson Controls purchased York International for $3.2 billion. Taking under one the greatest companies to date.
Regardless of the merger, York International still kept producing products under its original name – as it has had a great hold on the market. its great name and preparation got them a long way and are currently regarded as among the best Fortune 500 companies around the world.
When facing an error code we suggest you grab a pen and paper to note down the code rather than pressing various buttons on your York AC. This way you will not risk damaging your appliance any further and will be able to find out the exact issue using the common error code list for York AC error codes listed below. Once you nail down the issue you can easily call in a professional, or fix the issue yourself.

Troubleshooting
When troubles occur, please check the following points before contacting a repair company
Problem: The unit is not working
Possible Causes:
- Power failure
- The power switch is off
- The fuse is burned out
- Remote control batteries are dead
- The unit’s 3-minute protection has been activated
Solution:
- Wait for the power to be restored
- Turn on the power
- Replace the fuse
- Replace the remote control batteries
- Wait three minutes after restarting the unit
Problem: Poor cooling performance
Possible Causes:
- Temperature setting may be higher than the ambient room temperature
- The heat exchanger on the indoor or outdoor unit is dirty
- The air filter is dirty
- The air inlet or outlet of either unit is blocked
- Doors and windows are open
- Excessive heat is generated by sunlight
- Low refrigerant due to leak or long-term use
Solution:
- Lower the temperature setting
- Clean the affected heat exchanger
- Remove the filter and clean it according to instructions
- Turn the unit off, remove the obstruction and turn it back on
- Make sure that all doors and windows are closed while operating the unit
- Close windows and curtains during periods of high heat or bright sunshine
- Check for leaks, re-seal if necessary and top off refrigerant
Problem: The unit starts and stops frequentlyÂ
Possible Causes:
- There’s too much or too little refrigerant in the system
- There is air, incompressible gas or foreign material in the refrigeration system
- System circuit is blocked
- The compressor is broken
- The voltage is too high or too low
Solution:
- Check for leaks and recharge the system with refrigerant
- Evacuate and recharge the system with refrigerant
- Determine which circuit is blocked and replace the malfunctioning piece of equipment
- Replace the compressor
- Install a manostat to regulate the voltage
Problem: Poor heating performance
Possible Causes:
- The outdoor temperature is lower than 7°C (44.5°F)
- Cold air is entering through doors and windows
- Low refrigerant due to leak or long-term use
Solution:
- Check for leaks and recharge the system with refrigerant
- Make sure that all doors and windows are closed during use
- Check for leaks, re-seal if necessary and top off refrigerant
